Criminal Solicitor

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled Criminal Solicitor to join our busy, well established team based in and around the wonderful cathedral city of Norwich. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in criminal law, ideally be duty accredited and possess excellent communication and advocacy skills.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Criminal Solicitor, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Advising and representing clients in criminal matters, including providing legal representation at police stations and court proceedings.
• Managing a diverse caseload, including conducting thorough research and analysis of case facts, legal issues, and relevant legislation.
• Drafting legal documents, including correspondence, proofs, witness statements, and pleadings.
• Conducting case preparation, including gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and liaising with the Crown Prosecution Service.
• Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other professionals within the criminal justice system.
• Representing clients in Magistrates’ Court, as required.
• Ensuring compliance with regulatory and firm requirements, including maintaining accurate records and adhering to confidentiality protocols.
• Joining the local duty Solicitor scheme and/or participating in the Firm’s out-of-hours rota and providing on-call support to clients as needed.
• Continuously updating legal knowledge and skills through professional development and training.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

1. A minimum of 2 years PQE in criminal law
2. Duty Solicitor accreditation (preferred but not essential).
3. A valid Driving Licence and access to a vehicle, as travel to client meetings and court appearances will be required.

We are happy to consider full or part time. Salary will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
